Absolutely. I left 3 posts just now under the alias of 'snob sniper'.. I felt compelled! It is provocative, and it clearly worked on me. Oh well!
I have read the same thing before on ask men.com slating Rolex. These people target the larger, popular (more recognised) brands in order to cause the maximum furore. If he wrote an article criticising a Lange Datograph and hyping up a PP Moonphase, then few readers would have any kind of connection with it (and post as I have!).
I guess I should stay away from these things, but one thing this forum has taught me is how everyone's opinion is equal, and nobody has the right to dictate what is (without dispute) 'right' and what is 'wrong'.
Watches are a very personal purchase and buying decision. My friend loves his 2005 quartz SMP. I would never lay into him and tell him how much better everything else is compared to his watch, and how lacklustre it is. He loves it, and that is what is important.
(Incidentally, I like the SMP, and owned a 007 model when I was younger as my first watch - I always look upon them favourably for that reason).
Gotta admit this post irritated me somewhat as I am possibly hours away from selling my first Rolex (V SD - on TRF) for a 312 (first Panerai). I have had doubts BUT I LIKED IT (the Panerai) and that is why I want to go for it.
There are too many of these antagonistic self-interested individuals in the world.
That is what makes TRF so great
