Looks like I am getting really close to pulling the trigger on my first Panerai. I have been torn between a Rolex and Panerai for some time. I dipped my toe in the water with a Submariner last year, but I still have the Panerai itch.

I'm in love with the base/historics. It was between the 111 and 112, but I believe the 112 won out (love the simplicity and clean look). Somehow it is a huge, understated watch.

However, while I am comfortable with the appearance of the 112, I've never owned a watch which is a winder and has no date. This begs the question should I dig deeper in my pockets for a 312?

Logic tells me that the date shouldn't matter, because my Iphone goes everywhere with me and I'm buying the timepiece for the art as much as function.
