The dial is not original, so the whole idea of purism is out, except to the extent that I'd like it to be period correct. I have the silver wire, and if I knew how to solder I might try it, but I have neither knowledge nor tools, although I'd love to learn sometime. My husband won't let me play with anything hot or sharp, as a public safety issue. In fact, in our wedding vows, he promised to protect me from power tools. He lets me use a dremmel though. Ah well.
