It depends from person to person. I had friends at 17 years old with GMTII's and other SS Sport models. I personally liked Rolex from a young age because they just seemed to be THE watch to have. Plus, parental influence.. I will keep buying Rolexes until I can afford my grail (one of the PP 5970 watches, I like the P but I'd probably be satisfied with an R). I still defend Rolex over PAM and Hublot when people suggest that Rolexes are too old fashioned for me. Plus, Rolex Oyster Professional models undoubtedly hold their value best. Especially coupled with price increases, in 5 years I can probably break even on a watch I purchased today. PAM hardly holds its value as well as Rolex.
