For clarity, did the individual realize and acknowledge they dinged your watch? How bad is the scratch? Where is the scratch?

If they realized they did it and it was a major ding, I would explain that it is an expensive watch and is going to cost $ to have fixed. Hopefully, they'd be up to pay for the repair.

If they are totally clueless and less inclined to assist in fixing, well, that's what insurance is for I guess.

Watches are made to be worn and yeah that would suck if it was damaged because of someone else's carelessness but stuff happens sometimes.
