I agree that they can be hard to tell. Here is a photo from Mark Lerman's article that shows all 6 dial variations.

The photo provided in the OP is NOT very blurry....and the angle taken doesn't seem to "merge" the 6's loops....

If the dial from the HQM watch really does have closed 6's (not the partially open 6's), then we may have discovered a new variation, the Mk 5.5 !!
