Just got the 5164R, which is a great casual/sports watch. Have the Dato up/down in platinum, which can be worn with jeans or a suit and every situation in between. If anything the gold Dato is dressier, though it probably also can work for casual. Leather strap and modest water resistance on Dato means it shouldnt get wet; rubber strap and 100M water resistance on 5164R means it can be worn to swim, etc.

Real question is what you want it for - I think given that you own two great sports watches already (though admittedly the 5712 can be worn with a suit), I would lean towards the Dato. And as noted, you have to buy right - if you get a good price on the Dato it wont be much more than the 5164R.
