I honestly do not know very much about the 5971P or for how long Patek produced the watch. There may be others on the forum who are more knowledgeable about the watch who can comment on this. 5970P without the diamond baguettes is more common than the 5971P and easier to find on the secondary market.

I agree that it is hard to make a purchase decision without seeing a watch in person. If you have the opportunity, I would recommend visiting a city with many ADs and/or pre-owned watch stores and try on some watches. In Asia, I would say HK is your best place. In Europe, I would recommend London or Geneva.
You can also ask Jamie from Boodles if he can get the 5271P for you in a timely fashion and what he thinks of the watch knowing your existing collection.

Most people will agree that Patek has over-produced the 5270G with so many different versions. We shall see if the over-production continues with the other metal colors in R, J and P. In my opinion, many people buy the pre-owned 5970 as an "investment", whereas I don't see people doing that with the 5270. So it may be different groups of people buying the 5970 vs the 5270.
