I totally get that. Once we get to the $100+ retail price range, my wife and I start getting much more analytical about our buying. We have a lot of favorites in the $40-$60 per bottle price range and the question come up of "would you rather have 2 of this one or one bottle of this?"
We also love having guests go to the cellar and pick wines because we often find ourselves going to the old standards. We see the cellar as something to share with friends and it's fun to see their excitement when we say yes to whatever they pull. The look is often that childlike wonder that is hard to find as we get older.
