Just curious to try it for the first time or is there something you've heard about Barolo that interests you?

This is true of most wines, you need to explore the varietal (Nebbiolo) a good bit before you can decide much about what you think. taste, taste some more and taste again. Find retailers and restaurants that sell Italian wines and bug them for information on tastings and dinner and seminars and anything else that will get you to put more northern Italians wines in your mouth. While Barolo's are relatively cheap compared to other world class wines, they don't call it the wine of kings for nothing, it's still expensive. And always better with age which makes a drinkable Barolo hard to find. It's not CA Cab where you can crack one open a few years after it's bottled. Barolo's need age or they are quite austere, but going to tasting will familiarize you with the style and get you ready to try the good ones.
