I, too, had not heard of them until this website.

I sat next to someone wearing one at a week-long conference earlier this year. I noticed he had a cool looking watch, and when I asked to see it, noticed it was a Panerai. He said he had been looking at my YM. While it was definitely a cool watch, I think it was one that cost well over $10K, which seems overpriced for what you get. Considering that some criticize the YM for being overpriced, I still can't imagine paying more for a Panerai than for a platinum/ss or TT YM.
