My First Rolex
Here's a couple of pic's of my first Rolex. I don't know much about Rolex's so I'm not sure what year it is. I was told late 50's early 60's.

Looks nice! If you give us the first 3 digits of the serial, we can tell you approximately when it was made.
The movement is a caliber 1530 by the way. The serial is the long number between the lugs and the short 4-digit code is the reference, both would be helpful

Could have been made in early 1950's or 1960's due to a Rolex serial numbering anomaly to "infill" unused 6-digit number blocks before going to the 7-digit 1MM serial numbers.

Swiss dial if 'correct' (photo is poor so can't tell) is pre-52 of course, or post 1999 lumi' service dial....I would ask for another, but a wait to 2030 might see me out ...

I also just noticed OP cited a 5500 model reference - wouldn't that mean "after 1957"? Then the serial number resolves to 1962-ish. So maybe a refinished dial? I ask that because by '62 they put the Air King moniker on OPs to sell quicker. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
