I’ve read a few articles in the past about the “Salmon Dial” and it’s history. Seems it’s been something of a trend for a while and sought after for its patina on some vintage pieces. I’ll see if I can find the articles and share them here.

I think that DJ looks great regardless of the name of the color.

Wow 20 and Rolexes and Monte Carlo. Your friend must be a really enterprising young person. Congratulations to your friend. Sounds like a great trip and now you are watch buddies too!

Love the avatar too. Hope no bad feelings over Boba.

Watches aren't the best part of this, its the friends you make and see enjoying the hobby

Very nice. Ignore the ridiculous commentary regarding colour and nomenclature. This timepiece stands on its own!

Yes, we don't care what the "official" name of the dial is. He's happy to be wearing a Rolex. And a great story/memory of purchasing his first watch in Monte Carlo.

My great friend is traveling, and asked if I would watch over his watch for a week or so. This is the watch he bought in Monte Carlo when we traveled in February/March of this year.

Still looking good, based on the year you said it was originally sold, I would think it is a 116234 with the lovely Super Jubilee Concealed Clasp Bracelet. I am hoping to finalise buying one myself over the next couple of weeks.

I believe the papers state December 2006 or December 2007. Yes, it does have the super Jubilee with concealed clasp.

Poor taste. Some enjoy taking away from others.

Glad you've come around. I recall you stating something to the effect of 'I can't see why men would wear pink' in regards to the Oyster Perpetual...

I love that dial! He certainly picked a winner for his first Rolex.

Congrats, looks like an old pink dial that has changed color with time, I’ve seen blue dials turn purple and black dials turn brown, it happens and I like the way it looks, very cool..

Hope he enjoys it, nice look, different?

Cheers,

From what I understand, the current dial color is pretty much the color it was made as. This watch has been worn very little since 2006-2007. Mainly sat in a safe or drawer.....
