January 12, 1982 the same thing happened, March 13, 1993 too,
Then again January 28, 2014...

The photos tell it better...1982

2014

The more things change, the more they stay the same it seems.

I was at Ft. Benning, Georgia in January 1982. The whole state shut down. The only people that went to work during the storm was the Airborne and Ranger schools at Benning.

Those snowy days offered some training that money couldn't buy without flying to Colorado.

But yes all that other stuff happened including trapped School Busses.

This is the point I was trying to make above. A dusting of snow is an utter disaster in cities like Atlanta and Charlotte.

But for cities up north, it would be a non-event. Same thing happened to Charlotte not that long ago. The city was paralyzed.

I love that weather. Cold enough that the air feels crisp, but not so cold that your face is frostbitten instantly.
