State of contentment - is something wrong with me?!

Usually around this time I call my Patek AD and ask them to put me up for a piece to get this year (some steel Nautilus or Aquanaut). However this time, I decided I'm just going to chill and play it by ear.

Is it just me? Have I lost the lust for desirable pieces? I generally feel content.

I think it is normal. I am in that same boat at the moment, really wanted a 5711R but think that lust has subsided since I got the 228235 with olive dial, it fills that need. I do want a 5167R and will likely get that this year sometime but thats really it, not much else out there!

I've felt somewhat more content than usual too with the collection. Nothing I'm actively looking to move or purchase.

Maybe the new releases this year will get me moving again, lol.

Good advice. I’ve been fighting the urge to pick up a 5170P. Pretty sure I’ve got Chronovirus.

One of the reasons for my contentment is indeed the 5170p; I say so do it!

I can still be an enabler ya ya ya

Such a hot reference! I’ll definitely add it to the collection someday. Just need the right deal at the right time. Maybe by year end...

Expand to other brands? I like some of the smaller independent brands such as FPJ or Gronfeld.

The key to sanity in this hobby is to take the time to enjoy what we have. Love your watch.

Ever since I bought my 1815 Chronograph I’ve stood pretty still. Granted I did buy a 16570 Polar and got the call for the 116500LN since then, but I’ve really pruned the lineup to the basics. Not really looking to acquire anything else aside from a very specific independent piece. Much happier this way!

Don't worry, that feeling of contentment won't last.

There is a law of diminishing returns with watches after a while, and after some time you should start to form a core base of watches that you want as keepers, and then it is fun to buy the odd peripheral or experimental watch here and there, esp if they are not on huge wait lists which I have no patience for, I thought with no one having any patience any more in this now culture WLs would be extinct but clearly alot of waiters still out there.

I hope to one day be in the position to purchase the 1815 Chrono, such a beautiful time piece.

Is that that sky bridge in Toronto, crossing over Queen St?

I tried on the Gronefeld today. Really impressive watch. A bit heavier than expected, but the movement is simply a work of art. So many great watches out there!

Some day maybe I'll feel this way.

That day has yet to come. And I'm well over a decade into this bad habit.

Owned and got bored with the FPJ Chronometre Bleu within a month. I am perhaps looking at some of the more complicated watches (Resonance, Optimum, Tourbillon) but they are pricey...

Gronfeld perhaps :)

I AM on the list for the 4500V Vacheron blue and I do play around with Grand Seiko quite a bit, but I end up going back to my core collection.

Same for me. I haven´t bought a watch since December 2015 and tend to wear only my 5167 these days.

I´m bored beyond belief with the current delivery situation, AD relationship, waiting list and grey market talk.
