First PP

Any suggestions for my first PP. I dont want to go crazy and would prefer to buy on the secondary market. Pardon my ignorance on reference numbers, would some version of an annual calendar be within reach in the $25k range?

Look at a 5146. They can be had in the mid-uppers 20's. Classic layout.

I would recommend a 5227R and preferably with a Tiffany dial. Clean crisp dial perfect size and a pleasure to wear.

Can you stretch and add 5-10k more? You’re in 3940 country.

For a relatively small premium you move up to a timeless watch.

5227 is a wonderful timepiece ! Subtle elegance! Hinged caseback is really neat. Undervalued collectible piece imo. No Tiffany seal for me, if I had my choice - for sure wouldn’t pay extra for it - just mo. :-))

5196 with a ton of extra custom straps, a deployant buckle or maybe T stamp

At 49K it is too expensive for him.

I prefer the 5196 vs an annual calendar.

The 5146 was my first (and only PP....so far) and I find it to be the perfect Patek. A complication that Patek invented with a classic look in a modern size. I only buy watches now that I will never sell and the 5146 fits that bill. Well, never say never but it has held up so far.

I'd go simple Calatrava - be it 5196, 5296, or sth else - or try to stretch to a 3940 PC.

I have to agree, and the best PP you can get in the secondary market for under $25K.

Totally agree - one more vote for the 5227, preferably in R over the other metals (yes I'm biased, as that's the one I have).

Another vote for the 5227 on the used market where it is currently undervalued.

I've thought about picking up a 5146 myself a few times. Love the dial layout for a triple register.

X5! I was in the same boat. Searched for a few years and fell for the classic layout of the 5146, don’t think it will ever leave my collection. Very reasonably priced to considering.

X6 with the 5146.

The j with slate dial was my first PP. I sold it only because the AC feature is redundant with my 5960r.

For me with that budget it would be a 5296G. Also consider adding for 5146G and if you stretch 5524G or 3940.

For this budget, probably a Calatrava.
