How much for a used PAM 48?

Hello folks.

This is my first venture into the Panerai section of this great forum, so be gentle with me.....

After almost 25 years of wearing Rolex watches, I am really considering a PAM 48.

I started looking at the Panerai range a couple of years ago and really like the rugged, simplistic, no-nonsense look plus the option of being able to change straps at will.

My question is simply; how much for a good used one?

I appreciate that the best option is to buy one in America but with the USD not being great against the GBP, plus the Import Tax, I will probably have to buy one on this side of the pond.

I have been offered one from a private seller (not a member here) for £2200 GBP. The watch is as follows:

1998 PAM 48. 40mm C series. Box and Papers plus new and unused black Croc strap on deployment, new and unused black Calf strap and 2 used GEF straps - one tan leather and the other black plastic.

In USD the price equates to $3650.

How does the price sound for a watch of this age?

I have not physically seen the watch, although the photos are very good and I am assured there are no dings, scratches or marks on the piece.

Any help, pointers, advice etc will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Colin.

This has been said many times before, but when you venture into the Panerai world (Which btw is a GREAT idea !!! ) you go 44mm,not 40mm.

I also have a few Rolexes that I have been wearing since my first Submariner in 1979. However, I love my Panerai 104 and I think the advice to go with a 44MM is sound. I have small wrists and it looks great. My Business partner bought a 40 MM and has regreted not buying the 44 since...

Good Luck

I think you'll be happier with s 44mm Panerai. Go for the 104!!

I agree with the others that 44 is preferred but if you like the 40 then go for it As far as pricing, I'm not sure but that price seems high for a 10 year old watch that is still in production. Just my 0.02 cents worth.

I know where you can get one in the US for $5,895 ad maybe knock something off if you twist the guys arm. Let me know if your interested.

I bought a 40mm Panerai and regret not getting it 44mm. I love my watch but would prefer it 44. Think about it.

Gents, thank you all for taking the time to share your thoughts on this.

I have been swayed by your collective better judgements and I shall hold-off from the original choice and look closer at the 104.

Many thanks.

Colin.
