I use a DSLR for my 'serious' shooting but I love my little G11 for casual stuff. It does a great job for macro shots, as you've demonstrated!

Do you do anything special to cut down the glare?

Ive lined a shoebox with white paper and placed the watch inside then bounced a daylight corrected bulb to the ceiling above. I think the key is softening the light as much as possible and getting even light all the way around.
I'm no pro, just learning as I go. |

I've been using a lightbox I found on ebay. It definitely defuses the light, but I can't seem to get rid of the glare off the crystal. Just wondering if there was a filter or that sort of thing you've tried.
The pictures look awesome, by the way. |

Oh, okay. For glare you'd probably want a polarizing filter.. I believe that will do the trick. But reflection is a different story.
I am going to experiment with black backgrounds soon. |

Glare can be removed with a simple gamma adjustment and a contrast tweak in Photoshop.
