Icon5 Pam 193. Thoughts?

I bought and sold this model twice already.... And it has not left my mind since. Huge 47mm Sub, dual mechanisms (auto for the watch, quartz for the depth gauge), an absolute beast... that wears like a glove. Light titanium case, beautiful brushed finish, uber-lume, and a very sophisticated mech. What do you guys think? Is this a keeper (if I ever find another )? I'm looking at an 'only' Panerai (got rid of my 289, solid 18k RG case was too flashy for me), so at the moment this one is singing to me. Or should I go simpler with one of the new in-house 3-dayers, like the 312, 320 or 329.... Decisions decisions!

Oh, and here's the object of my obsession... Pic taken by me, sold this exact one to a good friend in Spain - now miss it greatly...

Looks good Greg. But 47mm subs are not for me.. But as you mentioned, it wears like a glove on you, so I guess you would be great wearing one.

The model itself is nice, but honestly, I think its a bit crowded for my taste. I saw one in person down here, and there's another for sale in Singapore. So getting one at the moment doesn't sound like impossible.

If I were you, the 289 is irreplaceible. I am actually looking for one, but can't find a fair price for one down here. And I believe you didn't sell yours at the sales section, or perhaps I missed it..

But if this watch sings to you, then by all means go get it! Being limited, it'll run over by demand one day..

I think it's a nice watch, but it bothers me that it has a depth guage with a water resistance of only 120m. I would definitely rather go for the 305. Still a titanium 47mm and has an in-house movement and looks better to me overall.

The 289 had to go.... I just couldn't justify having a Pam that pricey, plus the RG is just not for me anymore. Everose Daytona would yield an exception, but that's about it. I didn't sell it at the FS here, it went to a local client. Just wasn't getting the wear it deserved....

That makes sense - I do like the 305 quite a bit.

That depth guage hand would bother me always being in the same place.

Thoughts? My thoughts are it looks absolutely GREAT! Having just picked up a 305, I would never have even remotely considered a 47 mm piece. I think my 090 at 44 mm is pushing a bit on my wrist but now I would certainly slip this 193 on for a closer examination. Sweet piece Greg!

My thoughts are 'Get One'...you can always sell it again... but for me I like the simpler dial like the 329...

I enjoy my 193 for its cool look. For me it is a great summertime sports watch. It wears well on the wrist but only an occasional wearer. Would i ever sell it..nope but I also would only wear it occasionally.

Greg,

Heidi brought one of those to a show in Cincy once upon a time. I thought it was fantastic.

My daily wear (only Pam) for the last 7 months, and I can certainly attest how a taste for the 193 leaves many other Pams feel somewhat "lacking" on the wrist in comparison (at least until I get another Pam to compare it with! )

Cool thing is - you won't even find it on Panerai.com under watches - it is in the 'Professional Instruments' section!

Personally...one of the new in-house 3 dayers..... 312.

Too busy for my tastes as an only PAM.
