I m loving every minute of my new YM SS/Plat

. I thought I would share with all...
I've also noticed that the end-links of the YM is much longer, protruding out more from the case, giving the impression that the face/dial is smaller compared to other sport rolexes.

. Others may think I'm showing-off.
The DJ is a 1985 serial 84____. That is actually a 16000. However, the ori plastic crystal was badly damaged

, and a watchmaker offered to replace it with the flat sapphire crystal and the WG fluted bazel and I agreed

. I'm now thinking of restoring it back to its original spec, but not sure how expensive. What do you guys think? Appreciate opinion.

My 1986 is a 16000 as well.

Don't see many of them. Nice Rolex collection.

Personally, I would go for restoration. I believe having your Rolex as it was meant to be is best!

Sorry, forgot to answer your question. I would restore the 16000 back to original. Especially since you have other examples of Rolex to enjoy.

. Since I have my YM for my daily wear, I'm going to focus on getting the DJ restored.
I recalled reading in one of the previous post (cant find it now) that the crystal is not interchangeable with the plastic crystal without changing the bazel as well. Is that right? So, if I change the bazel back to the SS, would I need to change the crystal too? Appreciate info from the many very knowledgable members

The wife's DJ is the midsize 178274 with serial Z22xxxx. We choose the black dial as the diamond looks better with a dark b'ground.

It seems that the ladies doesn't mind wearing the large face watches, its the 'current' trend, though the wife prefers a slightly smaller face.

Thanks for the compliments guys! I have been enjoying my YM very much, and I dont mind the slightly 'bling' look of the polished centre link and case. The polished surface does sometimes give an impression of a TT (although not YG/SS look) a more two metal look with the brushed part giving a different shade of metal color vs. the polished part. I am sure the new SS GMTII have the same look (another of my favourite)
