Gap between bezel and case on Pam 88

Good Day TRF,

I just rcv'd my new N Pam 88 and after a few days noticed a small gap between the case and bezel at/around the 10/11 o clock mark. After worrying a bit I threw her in the water and noticed there appears to be no issues

Still concerned I looked on line and am finiding that this is apparently normal? It appears that there is an intentional gap in between the case and bezel on most if not all Panerai models for the watchmaker to remove the bezel during a service... I find this strange but am finding this everyhere on line. Folks even taking their Pam's to the service center and being informed this is 100% normal... just more visible on different cases and materials.

Can anyone confirm this? It is slight but noticibly there if you look close enough

Thank you for any/all replies, interested to hear what my TRF buddies have to say but it appears to be normal

It's completely normal and is there for removal of the bezel.

Just for further reassurance,my PAM88 has the "gap" in the exact same place (between 10 & 11).
When i first spotted it i thought i was being too anal and put it out of my head

Just for the record, the bezel is very easily removed by the jeweler. Its just a bit tougher to put back in place with the gasket, unless they have the correct pressing tool. Also, when the bezel is removed, the crystal remains sealed to the watch. The gasket merely provides an extra layer of protection.

Not so with many other Pams, 233 for example, where the bezel and crystal come off together. Many guys have their bezels removed harmlessly, rebuffed and replaced without problem. If you have the domed crystal on your watch, be prepared to have a watchmaker remove the bezel for you so he can protect the dial while the bezel is being worked on.

I learned that lesson the hard way :-)
