Black face is preferred? Or not?

As I read everything about Panerai watches, the most beautiful models, most desirable, etc.. the only thing I do not see any with white face. There is any reason in particular? For when you buy a watch apart from what you like in it in my case I like the story, the essence, the glamour of what I'm wearing and it seems that only occurs in Panerai with black face. Or it seems to me?
Good week guys..

Historically, I don't think there were any white faced war watches. So, if looking for a story and you are explaining to non-watch people the history of your watch, it would be hard to explain how Panerai was the military supplier of the Italian Navy during WWII. The white face doesn't have the essence of a war watch IMHO.

All that said, if you want a white dial....GET IT. If you get it used, then you shouldn't loose any money if you change your mind later. There is no right answer, just preference. Like the Rolex Daytona, the white face is really popular in the US and the black face is really popular in Asia. Why????? No reason!

I like them both but have to lean towards the black face. It's just more classic

If they made a white face with the sandwich dial I would be all over it.

Now that I think about, Im surprised they haven't made a special edition yet with it.

Black is really classy though.

Probably the biggest variety of strap combos is with a black dial, but white or tobacco dials can look very good. Whatever floats your boat.

Black is just more universal and the Lume is better as opposed to the little specs of lume on the the white dialed versions... Get what you like at the end of the day.

Same here. Also like the tobacco sandwich dial.

The black dials were made for stealth in the military, but not sure why polished finishes for casing were used.
The white dials used in the explorers were meant for cave explorers mainly so as to provide high visibility even in continuous poor light conditions.

But both black and white works, and as someone said, which ever floats your boat.

Aside from a black dialed PAM(183), I also like Brown(390) and Anthracite(91) dialed PAM's.

Brown and Anthracite Dials
