Rolex Oyster real or fake??

Hi
A friend of mine proposed to sell me, among other watches, this Rolex Oyster.I must go to visit his house, which is in the next town, so as to save me the visit could you tell me if this rolex appears to be legit from the first and only photo he sent me.He doesn't have any papers because he lost them,as he claims, between houses he changed.

he cant be that good of a friend if you have to question if he'd sell you a fake watch!

I'm no expert, I'm sure they'll chime in shortly, but at first glance, I dont see any obvious problems with it. Hard to tell from 1 pic, but looks like it may have been polished quite a lot, as the lugs look a bit funny to me. Although, as I said, I'd wait for others more knowledgable than I .

Oh, and it's a Rolex Seadweller 'Deepsea'. Oyster is a name Rolex have used for many years on their waterproof cases.

The thing that didn't convince me is the papers loss, that's why i'm a bit dubious. No he is not a very close friend

No he's not that close of a friend.Although i may be wrong 2 things does not convince me:
1.The distance of the crown from the upper index
2.The t of ft that doesn't curve in it's lower end.

What do you think?

If you're not convinced then stay away. This would be a cash transaction and you have no protection in case of a fake watch. Also if he only sent one pic raises a huge red flag.

I have my doubts, although I'm far form an expert on seadwellers. I don't like the numbers on the insert and I don't like the crown guards. I most certainly wouldn't put my money in something like that based on one picture.
If he is your friend, cant you ask for more pictures?

The scalloping on the bezel ring and the writing on the chapter ring look poorly done. Compare the space under ORIGINAL to that under VALVE. I'd point out this bad quality to your friend adding that he must think you're stupid.

Who knows? But the fact that you asked for more pics and he gave you that bs answer is highly suspicious.
Anyway, I'm glad you didn't waste your money.

I think it's the OP that's full of BS. Acts like he doesn't know much about Rolexes but has incredibly specific questions about fonts. Then we determine it's fake and he wants to know how we could tell. Telltale sign of a BS'er. Let's not give him any more tips on how to improve his fake.

Hmmm, I'm still not convinced that it's fake based on that photo, but I certainly don't think you should proceed if you aren't sure. If you want one that badly, use a reputable seller, or an AD.

All of your posts are about your friend selling various watches to you and some omegas you stumbled on at your grandmother's house. I'm not a watch expert by any measure, but I'm pretty sure you're not just exchanging info.

Believe it or not it's the whole truth. And just because i'm not a watch expert either,i wanted initially to id my omega watches initially. After i did that thanks to this and other forums,i decided to sell them and at that time this friend proponed to trade plus an amount of money paid by me for his rolex. His other models didn't really interest only because being naive about watches,i knew the value of the rolex brand. That's the whole story and really i don't need to convince anyone.
