Daytona Bracelet Detail - To Flash or Not to Flash?

Can't decide which one of these pics looks better to show the bracelet detail:

Without flash:

With flash:

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Personally i think that the first pic shows more detail

On the second pic the flash distracts me somehow and i can't see the detail that much

The simplest way for good results would be.....NO FLASH, MACRO mode, natural light.....and PRESTO!!

#1 is better. Use JJ's information for more detailed and clearer shots. Nothing beats natural daylight if you don't have professional flash or lightbox capabilities.

I agree with JJ. Natural lighting and macro lens or mode on your camera will provide the best most "life like" result without using a flash at all.

Definitely without flash. Maybe try it again with upping the EV (Exposure Value) a touch. This would require a longer shutter speed but allow more light to enter resulting in a brighter picture.

Also the White balance seems to be off in the first one. Although it is definitely the better picture.
