vintage seiko 6139-7080
Just got a great vintage seiko
but the issue is it only keeps time when the chrono is running any clue why this would be? |

DOn't know, if it is a vertical clutch it's nota problem to keep it running, if it's not as far as I know it damages the mvt

Sounds like the clutch may be dry or worn. Keep it running so it doesn't wear out the clutch or plate.

I think poor timekeeping is related to the clutch slipping. There isn't really a fix for this - although I've read some guys saying it can be fixed by roughing up the clutch plates. Accepted wisdom is that keeping the chrono running theoretically reduces wear. I have quite a few 6139/8 chronos and always wear them with the chrono running - they don't have a separate running seconds hand.
