Help me understand the 5130

So I've been interested in the 5130, because the complication is fascinating, and the dial is incredible.

However, when I handled one today at a shop, I was disappointed with how it felt pressing the pusher at the 10 o'clock marker. It felt... squishy and not as crisp as I had imagined it to be. Is this normal or did I handle one that didn't feel as crisp as the norm?

It is normal. But don't worry, you will get used to that.

Best, Kari

Karl, first you don't notice the rotor sound of the 5711, then you don't notice wether the pusher is squishy or crisp, something's wrong my friend, time to consult

To me the pushers on the 5130 feel similar to the ones on the 5164 travel time. You get to appreciate them especially if you are traveling across many times zones and have to press it quite a few times to get to the new time zone.

The 2 WT I really love are the 5131 and the 5930, saw the first in the flesh, the R model, waiting to see the 5930, it looks awesome, don't really care for a chrono, but the combination of the 2 just make for an amazing watch...

I'm neither a WT or a chrono fan but the 5930 does look amazing

I have a 5575 and a 5164. They feel very different to me. The 5164 feels crisper than the 5575. The 5575 feels like there is a spring behind the pusher giving it an odd feel I was not totally prepared for when I bought it. It almost feels like it will not move the city ring properly if pushed too much.

You do get used to it, however, and they both work perfectly.

Good point my 5524 is the same and uses same movement as 5164 which just moved the hour hand. The sponginess may be the uncoupling of the movement.

Each time the pusher is pressed, the hour hand will advance by one hour while the city disk and the 24-hour ring will move by one increment in the counterclockwise direction. During this process, the time-zone mechanism is uncoupled from the movement so that the accurate progression of the minute hand and the amplitude of the balance remain unaffected.

Agree with Karl. I don't use the pusher too often, but when I do, it feels normal and as I'd expect.

And I love the watch. The dial, the case, the size, and the movement...all perfect, IMHO.

Here you go!! Helping you with your decision!

If you like blue dials, and knowing how much you like the 5130 reference, I say it's a no brainer.
