Ticking - 1959 Explorer
I have a 1959 Rolex Explorer and I noticed that when it is really quiet in the room, I can actually hear it ticking, as if it is the second hand moving? I was wondering if this is normal for a watch from 1959, a sign of aging and deterioration, or the sign of an unauthentic Rolex part.
Any insight would be much appreciated... Thank you! |

There's actually a reference (or two) by Ian Fleming to James Bond hearing his Rolex tick.
That had to be based on something, eh? You and 007! ![]()

Reading this made me curious about one of my James Bond quartz models, an Omega 2541.80 Seamaster (analogue).
Put it up to my ear and, sure enough, it "ticks." Once per second. ![]()
