I seem to remember a thread a while ago related to someone changing the clasp on their Y/M to the new style Daytona clasp. Does that ring any bells with anyone? I am curious as to what was involved and how much it cost to make the switch.

Thank you Jocke, very informative, I have a T/T so I would guess this wouldn't be an inexpensive part but it really makes quite an improvement. The clasp is really the only part on the watch that I am not that fond of it just seems a little cheap compared to the rest of the package.

I plan to do that exact same transformation on my Sub..

Just as soon as Jocke sends me the new Daytona clasp...........

I think I could be waiting quite a while...........

One question: how can I buy the necessary parts? I've been in to Rolex (London) & tried, but was told Rolex class the change as customisation & won't get involved. They will still service it if the modification has been made though.

Any authorised dealer should be able to get you one, Ernest Jones, WOS, Goldsmiths...The last one I changed was about 2yrs ago, but don't expect much change from £500-£600.

Tony they will know the part, it is quite a common request actually. The clasp last time I ordered one back in May was £450 inclusive. The daytona bracelet complete for an older GMT was £950 and to have it brushed was free by the watchmaker.

Don't forget to ask for the comfort link as well, it isn't included if you just order the clasp, it is a seperate part.

very easy process, takes few minutes, its just the same as resizing the bracelet
