ROLEX watches being perfect?
I have often seen written on websites that when you are comparing a rolex with a replica, just remember that rolex watches are perfect or as perfect as they can be because of all the meticulous attention to detail.
The similar verbage is stated in John Brozek's book, THE ROLEX REPORT. Well this is where my issue is. The inside (hidden in the casing and not visible on th dial) parts are created by machines but then hand assembled. The dial, the markings, the depositing of the luminous material on the hour hands and hour markers, all is done by machines so ofcourse it is perfect down to a few microns. But the same can be said for a SEIKO or any other mass produced analog watch for that matter because they are also put together by machines. I have seiko watches whose dials will show the same quality of craftsmanship a ROLEX dial shows ..... The quality of materials ofcourse is different in ROLEX but you can not say a ROLEX dial is more perfect than a SEIKO dial .. So when people say I buy a rolex because it is perfection, or a symbol of perfection blah blah blah, then that's just a bunch of bologne .... ![]() |

I don't know about Rolex being perfect but I know I am. At least that is what my mother tells me!

Rolex are great watches but not the best thats out there. I think most of us know that. I bought one because it's durable and looks great. Seiko also makes a great watch. Very well built and also durable. I think Seiko does not have the status that Rolex has and that's why you pay less for it.

Well Seiko dials are very good and IMHO as good as the majority of any high end brand.Better than some especially with lume etc and how the date lines up perfect.
![]() There is a misunderstanding in some, that people assume Seiko equals affordable/cheap. Most are undoubtedly referring to Seiko's normally found on the street in Europe and the Americas, and they are definitely a good, fantastic, value for the money and IMHO excellent dial finish. But you can also get vintage and new high end Seiko's, which, until the advent of the Internet, were relatively unknown outside of Japan. And a few other far east Asian countries (Taiwan, HK, Singapore ETC.) "King Seiko","Grand Seiko", and "Seiko Credor", you will find in these watches that, movement and case finish wise, easily compete with the best of mass produced swiss watches, i.e. Omega, Rolex, etc. As for style… well, that is in the eye of the beholder, at best they can be considered very conservative. But it really depends which movements, and watches you are comparing to. What this all boils down to is: Seiko makes some truly outstanding products, and some mediocre ones, but IMHO just like many other companies.

I think Rolex still has more attention to detail than Seiko and the manafacturing tolerances and finishes are better. Rolex also use state of the art machinery and because they have been making the same models for years have absolutely perfrected the manafacturing process for their watches.

Check out the regulator adjuster on this one! .That's real quality! and there own movement tested, to a much higher spec than the Swiss COSC.These watches are mainly hand assembled and they guarantee parts and service for 50 plus years. ![]() ![]()

Rolex could perfect their watches, starting with a better/brighter LUM.

I won't say Seiko cannot match Rolex and any other Swiss timepieces, bacause Seiko won 4th to 10th positions in the Geneva Observatory Competition in 1968.
