My first Rolex!

Good evening all!

I purchased my first Rolex 3 weeks ago, a Datejust 41 and I absolutely love it! It's elegant, versatile and down right beautiful.

I purchased it pre-owned by a few months, 5 to be exact so it is a 2017 model.

The watch is in fantastic condition apart from 2 small gauges on the left hand side of the case. They are deeper than surface scratches I can feel one of them with my nail and visually you can tell they are a lot deeper.

As I am new to Rolex, I wanted some opinions on whether these can be buffed/polished out or if the marks are there for good.

Thanks :)

Congrats! As for the dings, you'll forget they are there after a short while.
Don't polish until service. IMO

Let it be. You will get more. Remember its just after a watch nothing more or less. Try not to let materials use up your thoughts.

Nice choice. Congratulations! I wouldn't fret over those little nicks in the case; they will be addressed at its first service in a few years, and it'll have lots more of those by then.

I know how you feel. I took my watch in after an initial scratch. The dealer looked at me and said they are like wrinkles, just let it go...

Congrats on your first!!!! As time goes by you will learn to " wear" the watch.. You may not have noticed but they are so well made that they tend to disappear on your wrist, until you hit on something.after a while that happens less and less. Anyway all those little marks are the history of you and the watch. I would personally deball any service person who would buff mine out...

The ding is insignificant, you will forget it after a while.

Thanks for all your input guys, I do absolutely love the watch. I think the situation with the ding probably effects me more as I wasn't the one who did them, must have been the previous owner, which is probably why I can't seem to forget them lol.

Congrats in wonderful time piece.

Totally agree w the theme of previous responses...call them "beauty marks" or "wisdom indicators". They are like wrinkles and gray hair...just let'em happen.

Congrats...beautiful watch! I am crazy about the jubilee/smooth bezel configuration.

As far as the dings, I wouldn't sweat it...there will (probably) be more, and they're not that noticeable, TBH. In my mind I just view little marks like that as personal identifiers...so if the watch is lost or stolen, you have some descriptors that strengthen the case that it's yours.

Enjoy in a good health. You will have the dings removed during the next service in 5-10 years. In the meantime, do not worry about it.

Congrats on your first! As to the dings - trust the advice given above. For a while, they may bother you, but if worn regularly, you will acquire more. At which point, you will start forgetting about them.

Congratulations! Great choice for a first watch! I love mine!

As mentioned they will be taken care of with the next service. I wouldn’t worry about it. Enjoy your beautiful watch!
