Maui Rolex/ Tudor

Stopped by Tourneau at Whalers Village in Maui. Was thrilled to see both the Blue Pelagos [in my near future] and P01.

The Pelagos just reinforced everything I thought I'd love about it. Can't wait snag one.

The P01 was even better than expected, and I already liked it before seeing it in person. In fact, my wife loved it best. Felt great on the wrist and it's unique character would be a worthy addition to any collection.

Not a Tudor GMT in sight, except the one on my wrist.

The solid gold Skydweller was no shrinking violet either but was a treat to try out.

Thanks for sharing. The Pelagos has a vibrant look and appeal. The P01 is catching on I think. The SkyD apparently shone its radiance throughout the entire store, judging from the pictures ;)

I'm sure you're temporarily blinded by those beautiful pieces, and just wanted to remind you to secure your reservations at Mama's Fish House if you haven't already. And Lahaina Grill. And Banyan Tree. And.... dang I want to go to Maui right now!

Nice wrist shots, thanks for sharing!

I'm heading to Maui in May. Haven't been there for a few years -- never knew there was a Tourneau at Whalers Village, is that new?

I love the look of the blue Pelagos. It feels great on the wrist and much lighter than it looks.

One of your Nylon Nation recruits (me) appreciates the pics.

My wife and I were in Maui many moons ago. Enjoy.

Maui Rolex/ Tudor

Nice Dan!

Lucky you. You have enough real estate to accommodate that monster P01. I tried it on the other day and it hangs too much off the wrist.

Used to be Barron and Leeds. I think they got bought last year. I always enjoyed stopping in B&L. Curious how Tourneau compares.

i couldn't agree with you more on the Blue Pelagos - in fact i bought one today and should be here tomorrow

I was torn between it and the PO1 but the Blue bezel won me over

and jeez, you take better pix on the cuff than i can take with all the prep in the world - nice shots!!

Looks great! My brother and I bought matching submariners there in Dec 2018. Great store and good memories to get our watches together and in such a beautiful location.

Been to Mama's a couple times during previous Maui visits and could not have been happier. Enjoyed another dinner there Sunday night [wife's birthday request] and was not disappointed. I'd put Mama's in the top 5 restaurants I've had the pleasure to experience. And going back Thursday night.

My last visit there was 2006 and back then you could actually walk in and buy an stainless steel Rolex. Ah, the good ol' days. The salesman said he gets about 20 requests a day for the Daytona and admitted they hold inventory for their best customers. They had a pretty solid preowned selection, 16710's, pre ceramic Daytonas, DJ's, & DD's.

Although no Tudor GMTs, very nice selection of Heritage & Black Bay chronographs, and BB divers of every description. Again, I was really impressed w/ the P01. The blue Pelagos still stuck out for me as the most desirable [been eyeing one for some time]. The ridiculously innovative clasp, Ti comfort, matte blue ceramic lumed bezel, and stunning blue dial really make for an amazing package.

P01 lugs don't look as massive & clunky as I thought they would. How was it in person?

Also, did you check out the operation of the locking bezel? Just wondering how smooth that mechanism works.

Rick [love the avatar],

The lugs are not small but not overly large either. The fit was comfortable on my 7.25" wrist. The beautifully designed robust Tudor clasp and leather/ rubber combo strap worked really well together.

The Heritage Chronograph, Tudor GMT, Pelagos, & P01 bezels, each have different tactile experiences. None are better or worse than the other, just different. The P01 requires the user to remove the watch, lower the strap at the 12:00 lug, press the 3 raised lines on the hood to open it for access to the bidirectional bezel. Then snap back the hood to lock it down. Great for diving cause that baby ain't gonna move. Not quite as convenient if used as a simple timer on the go [something I use often] but not a big deal to facilitate either. The P01 is so unique you can't help but like it's quirkiness.

Awesome, Dan! Thanks for taking us along.

I tried on the blue pelagos this weekend as well. Such a beauty. I'm more and more regretting letting the one I had from its introduction year go. If I didn't already have the LHD, I would have pulled the trigger on the spot. Decisions, decisions...

As for the P01, it's far and away the 'coolest' watch I have in my collection.

Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Have a great time.

I wander in there every time I'm in Maui and actually bought my only Tudor there a while back.

Since they have little Rolex stock, the feeling of desperation amongst the staff seems fairly heightened. But that could be the Tourneau vs Baron and Leeds sales technique. It used to be more "chill".
