hi pals,

I am considering to get a PM Rolex. However, not too sure which one I should go for as I only have the budget for only one :

1. RG Rootbeer (very nice and attractive)
2. RG Daytona with Ivory Dial
3. RG Daytona with Pink and Black Dial
3. Smurf (my soft spot as it is a unique pc which many find the dial and face too loud)
4. WG Daytona with Steel and Black Dial (very similar to SS Daytona and it looks simple and nice)

Personally, I prefer WG and I think it suits me better as I have tan skin. On the other hands, my collection is all SS and having an RS pierce will add some varieties to my current collections.

Appreciate if you guys can share your opinion as I have not seen any of the above in person yet.

Have you tried any / all the pieces on to see how they look? I always thought YG wouldn't work for me / my skin but when I tried on the DD40 I was surprised.

If I was you - I'd definitely lean more towards RG or YG to switch it up. Especially if it's you're first PM piece and your collection is all SS

All great watches that you can’t go wrong with any!
The smurf is my favorite in your list (unless you want something flashy) super elegant, very versatile and very popular
You should be able to find those pieces easily at ADs. Try them on and see which one sings the most to you

If it will be your only PM piece I would vote for the Smurf - especially given you preference is WG! It is an absolute beauty of a watch. Perfect for all occasions.

If not, and you like the silvery PM, then a Platona or Day-Plati are options...

I think the rose gold ivory dial daytona is a stunning piece and somewhat of a sleeper. I dont see too many in the wild, but when I do, I always admire them. That's the direction I would be going. Good luck

I have the WG Daytona and love it. But this is all so personal, you really just have to try them on and decide for yourself.

i see you have mostly black faced watches. go for the SMURF. the dial is loud but the watch is WG and will not itself be as loud. also keep in mind most WG models are more than the gold ones. i do like the RG daytona with black dial and RG sub dials. If you have the budget, might i recommend the RG Skydweller with Rhodium dial? its a stunner too and i dont think you have anything even close to that in your line up. itll be a new model for you altogether

RG CHNR as it has a little bit of extra pop over the WG but doesn't scream out like YG.

@OP, FWIW, if you’re not purchasing because you want the color of gold, but strictly because you would like a (killer) PM watch, I would go with the Smurf. It’s the top of its line and a real “boss watch”. The other choices are great if you know you want them for x or y reason, but not as strong a choice if what you really want is to make as big a step as possible on the upgrade path (no shame whatsoever in that latter motive).

Personally, I recently sold my RG Root Beer. It was a thing of beauty. But I scratched it up a fair bit. And got too OCD about it that I had to let it go. I've seen a few at the Rolex ADs when I travel, so I think I will get another one in the future.

However, I really think the gold Sky Dwellers are amazingly striking. The annual calendar is wonderful too. I would recommend the Chocolate Sky or Rhodium Sky, they really shine in person.
