suggestions for a patek collection

dear fellow friends - i am currently in a very slow process of building a patek collection and would love to have some advice from fellow experienced collectors! My idea collection of patek would be a 5712A, an annual calendar/or a functional watch like 5524, a perpetual calendar and a worldtimer.

Right now I am on a waiting list for 5712A, if I have the chance to get it, do you think, in terms of the annual calendar/functional piece:

(1) if you have to choose between 5205r, 5524r, 5960G, 5960A - what would be your choice or if you could get more than one from these 4, what would be your fav combo of 2?

(2) if you dont like the above options - what would be your incoming piece after 5712A in order to complete this collection?

Thanks a lot!

T.

It's your collection you are trying to build. You should be trying on these pieces at the AD and determine which ones you want in your own collection.

I have tried all of them in the AD....and i love them all! that's the problem :(

I am mainly struggling between 5960 and 5205 because they both have similar functions and tbh.....i dont have any preference between chrono and moon phrases...

that is why I am so torn!

Out of these four, I think a 5524R and 5960A would give you a very nice pair.

The 5960A has been discontinued though, so would you also buy preowned references?

5960A white or black. i'd say there is an off chance that you can get a white dial at an AD (i found two back in february but didn't close the deal). black one no way...

I'm in agreement with @Ichiran on this: the key question I'd encourage you to ask yourself, which is probably more important than asking friendly strangers on a forum who have different tastes and aesthetic sensibilities than you, is "what will I like, both now and into the future?"

I think a Patek purchase is best considered with a high degree of introspection. You are the one that will be wearing and living with whatever you buy. Try to make sure it's something that really satisfies and fulfills you, not just a fleeting infatuation. Think long term about it.

These things are too expensive to get tired of quickly. You want something with staying power for you and your own sensibilities. Trust your judgment, and buy with consideration and confidence.

And then, enjoy the hell out of it. :-)

Thanks for the suggestions!!! I totally agree.. bad thing is that I love them all

so maybe the solution is to wait and see which one i like the most when i decide to pull the trigger!
