Did any film/film character inspire you to buy a Rolex?

Always wanted a day date as a kid from watching the sopranos’s (tony soprano’s watch) and bought one in my early twenties. Almost every character in the sopranos wore a Rolex.

Anyone else?

The original Magnum, PI. It's why I've stayed with mostly the GMT.

Good question. Though I've always liked the Submariner, none really sparked a serious interest until I saw Robert Redford's 1680 "Red Line" Submariner in Three Days of the Condor.

It's cool as s***

It was Roger Moore's 007 in Live & Let Die that inspired me to want a Submariner, I must have been about 6 or 7 years old in the late 70's, I wanted 'that' James Bond watch.. I had no idea about Rolex and Rolex itself was not the product that it is today either.

Same movie. But I had no idea the watch was a Rolex Sub. My parents took me to see the movie at the local drive in. I was born in '66 and I believe the movie was in '73. Love McCartney's theme music!

Yep.

Bond. James Bond.

Obviously.

First the 5513. Then the 2531.80.

Dammit...I should have kept those...

I wouldn’t say overly influenced but when I decided to get a birth year watch, there was only a few options I wanted and top of the list was a 5513 that coincidentally Connery wore in a couple of Bond films. It just made it even that much cooler that a favorite character of mine also had the same watch.

It wasn't so much a movie. When I was coming up, Omega was in the James Bond series. For me, it was, "what is the best I can afford and will stand up to wear every day?"

I’ve never really thought about it that way. I guess I think it’s neat that people from all walks of life wear the same great watches.
