Need some Lone Star Love!

Fellow Texans,

I'm exiled to GA, and I haven't seen the promised land since November (when I watched the Horns whup on the aggies).

I'M HOMESICK!!

I need some hometown stories of stuff that you can only do in Tejas. Like seeing Gary P. at Greune Hall after floating the river, or sittin' on the patio at the Stephen F. in Austin sipping bourbon with the Capitol building in the background.

Here's one of my favorite Austin days: Catch a free KVET Wednesday show at Hill's Cafe (maybe Jason Boland or Bruce Robison). Drink several Shiners in the yella can standing under the live oaks. Follow that with tacos at Guero's on South Congress (with a couple of hand-squeezed 'ritas, of course). Then walk across the street and catch the James McMurtry show at Continental club at midnight....

Just as good:
Cut out from work early on a Thursday. Play 18 holes at Lions in Tarrytown. Afterwards, scoot over to Hula Hut and enjoy some chips-n-salsa on the deck with a couple of cold Pacificos. Wait for one of your friends to show up at the dock in his boat. Take a couple of turns on Lake Austin, skiing in your golf shorts.

Anyone else got some hometown Texas tales??

I live in Dallas, which means shopping and going to restaurants.

I'll drink a Dublin Dr. Pepper for you since you're in the land of Coca-Cola.

Not a Texan, but a northern neighbor. I'm heading for Dallas motor speedway for the race tomorrow. I'll tell them howdy for you.
