Calling All opinions please - PP 5712

Dropped into my AD today. Low and behold was taken to the back room and they offered me the 5712/1A. Really made me feel special knowing how difficult these are to get at retail. My AD is truly incredible and this totally caught me by surprise. Always admired from pictures. This is the first time I’ve seen one in the flesh and actually held it in my hand and on the wrist. First impression was how light it felt compared to my Rolex’s. Dial and finishing is gorgeous. Never thought I’d even have this opportunity.
Never owned a PP before but now I’m 90% of the way there. Owners of this watch stand up and enlighten me on your ownership experience and non-owners are welcome to chime in too. Thanks.

I don’t own the 5712 but there’s a ton of info and experience on the Patek Philippe section of this forum........ bottom like is, it’s an awesome watch!
Congratulations on having such a relationship with your AD!

I don't have any negatives on it and say go for it if you like it

Edit: Sorry, that was my subdued response. I say #$#%*@$ go for it!!! Congratulations by the way, having never owned a PP before. What a great first Patek!

That is awesome. You must be an amazing client in their eyes.

Goes to show how the lists exist in theory only. Boy would I be ticked at my AD i was waiting on a 5712 for a while and lo and behold they sell one to someone who didn’t express interest.

It’s a beautiful watch. Enjoy!

Wouldn't be surprised if OP's AD made him sign a nondisclosure jk

As a non-owner and non-lover I'd pass. I've never been a fan of the Nautilus.

I find it overrated and not aesthetically pleasing, especially the case and bezel, the dial of the 5711 is ok, bracelet is nice. Although I'd still wouldn't buy one, the 5711 at least has a simplicity and symmetry about its dial, which I value in a watch.

The 5712 on the other hand is too busy and quirky to me. I just wouldn't wear one. But I'm probably in a minority. You seem to like it so you should totally buy it, especially at retail price. There's always time to let it go if it turns out it's not for you. In your case it's a no-brainer.

The PP's are gorgeous! Specifically the 5712/1A you have there. If you have an opportunity to get it at MSRP, then I say "go for it"! Keep us posted on what you end up doing.

Amazing watch, amazing opportunity...I say do it!

The 5712 could even replace your 116509, considering they have similar color schemes.

It's kind of a no brainer I think. I'm not a fan of PP but how could you pass that up?

that is pretty cool in and of itself right there.

what stands out to me is "how light it felt".
reminds me of having tried on a 5711 and also thinking it was so small and light.
not a huge deal, but definitely a consideration for that kind of money, it's gotta be right.

Lol.
You would think a gentleman’s agreement would suffice. After all, the gentleman’s agreement is part and parcel of how to become a good/VIP client and having your AD take care of you.

If it were a true NDA, it sure didn’t last long before this post and picture got posted.

Again, happy for OP and hope you enjoy. In all honesty, if this were me I would have bought. If it were in a climate where you can just pop in an pick up a 5711 (or 5712) from the display, then I’d look the AD in the eye and say “you want more than $25k for this? Seriously?”

Did you buy it?

The 5712 is one of my favorite Pateks period. I love the complications and dial layout on this model.

I’m not clear either as to whether the OP bought ... but I bet he’s inbox is full of PM’s asking for the AD info

One of my favorites from the Nautilus line. I have been on a wait list for 2 years for a blue dial 5711. I passed on a white dial the AD had. I would jump at a 5712 .

Wow awesome picture. I hope you bought it

I think I may get the most compliments on this watch over all my other Rolex and PP, even more than my 5980 or 5990.

It’s an amazing watch.

Congrats looks great! I like the one that has a grey dial and comes on a leather strap the best. I’d chose that if I could. However, I still prefer 5167a aquanaut. Enjoy !

If you like the asymmetrical dial then you should definitely buy it. Personally, I love the asymmetry and have a 5712 and to me it’s quirkiness is what makes it so special but I also know not everyone agrees with me on that point.

My favorite by a slim margin to my 5164a. Buy it and if you decide you do not love it (unlikely), you can always sell and buy something else.

I have owned it for 4 years now - it’s a great watch, the more complicated dial is IMO a better fit for the Nautilus than the 5711, but it’s a matter of opinion ofc. I love how slim the case is, you can easily fit it under any shirt. Also the movement is a sign to behold, much more interesting than with 5711.

Do you like it?

This watch is a scratch magnet. It is totally different from a ceramic Rolex. It is also very light compared to a sports Rolex.
