Hey guys. What do you think the top 5 watches are that Patek make.

Do we all think it’s

1- 5711

Where would you put the 5980r

For me it’s a close second then 5711r

5726 and 5990 would make it in mine

I also like 5164r

5712/1A definitely belongs on the top 5. At the moment I would say that steel > rose gold in "hotness" since this is where a lot of the hype based demand is.

Gotta throw the family of aquanauts in there. Pick your poison but 5968a would be the top aquanaut in my book but all are very nice.

5164a definitely. Somehow it turned from an overpriced Aquanaut to many people’s grails.

While I can easily name references such as 15202, 15500, 26315, etc, i struggle to name any of those AP references on leather strap. Apols I can't even think of one...

I can do this easily for Patek though - 5270, 5327, 5370, 5231, 5172, 5227, 5205, 5296, 5196, 5212, 6007, 6300, 5320, 5159, 5396, 5146, etc etc, without the use of Google. I own some of these references.

I guess that's the difference, at least for me. :)

And between the dress and Nautilus, my preference is the Nautilus if I can only list my top 5. So, going back to your question - no is my answer.

5980 was pretty unpopular before, to me more of a function of the high MSRP relative to the rest of the range. Awesome watch for sure but definitely boosted by tulipmania. 5 yrs ago was offered a blue one for 30% off......

Those were the days - I remember them sitting in AD window (both blue and black dial versions in steel).. The white dial literally didn’t move.

5726 on strap was literally available at most ADs around 10 years ago.

The hottest are still the Aquanauts and Nautiluses, if what you mean by hot is measured by the large number of people behind a waiting list, not necessarily that there is smaller supply coming out from Geneva. If you're talking about just absolute time waiting till you can own a specific PP, there's also the 5270, 5172, 5370 etc. with much less people waiting for them but are low production pieces.
