Got the call and had to decline.

Man, it was painful. I said a 126660 JC was my first choice, but that I might take an SD43. I got my JC three weeks ago from a grey dealer and the local AD just offered me an SD43. Couldn't do it, don't want to flip it, know they'll sell it within the next call or two and so I just thanked her profusely for giving me the call and asked her to keep me in mind for future stuff, once my wallet has recovered. Anyway, I'm really happy with my JC and don't much want anything else now.

You did the right thing, OP. Someone else will be very happy thanks to you. Good karma. Congratulations on your JC.

Congrats. Been waiting on SD43 from my AD for 11 months now. No call...

The JC and the SD43 are two different watched (sort of a GT3RS vs GT3 911 lets say) and I wouldn't mind owning both. But it IS a lot of dough.

Lets see pics of the JC!

I would have done the exact opposite…. I much prefer the SD43.

Good on you to pass on the SD43 that you no longer wanted. Although it is different from JC, I can see choosing JC over SD43 myself.

Congrats! That’s a beauty and I know you’ll enjoy it. Most of us can’t keep all the ones we want.

JC is the sweetest diver IMO. You just can’t go wrong with that watch.

Similar story. I initially wanted the SD43.. Put my name in 2 years ago with local AD. Subsequently, my taste migrated toward the Deep Sea. Fast forward to spring of 2020 and while on vacation, I purchased the 126660 JC from my "holiday" AD. This spring, my local offered the SD43 and I declined. Love the SD43 but the JC was the clear choice for me.

Beautiful watch! Congrats on that.

You clearly handled it the right way for you, but both watches are really great. I think if I were in your spot I would have taken both, floated the money temporarily and decided which to keep. At which time you could have sold here on the forum for retail if you didn’t want to make a profit.

Anyway, hope that doesn’t come across the wrong way, it’s less about the whole “flipping” thing and more about getting to try out as many watches as you can to see which one sings the loudest and sweetest to you.

I wouldn't need to try the SD43 for a while to know which I want to keep. The JC makes all others invisible to me. However, I hope I didn't get myself blacklisted with the AD for declining. I can't think of anything else I want, but that could change in the future and I'd not want them to think I'm a tire kicker. There were a good six mos, where, had they called me for a JC, I'd have dropped everything and headed right over there to snag it.

I have the SD43 and JC and I find myself grabbing the JC more often. There's so much about it that I love and appreciate. The dial really is jaw dropping and it fits me like a glove. Congrats and wear it in good health!

I have the SD43 and the DSSD black. Enjoy both but prefer the SD43. I chose black over JC. I’m not fond of green and blue hues… DSSD is larger and bulkier..

I went the other way around, got the call and almost pulled the trigger on the JC, but declined at the last minute and hold on to my recently acquired SD43 at gray price, too much going on the JC dial IMO, but great watch nonetheless.

The AD will appreciate that you’re not a flipper. Just pay them a visit wearing your JC and talk about it and when you’ll be ready for your next watch. They now know it’s safe to sell you a watch without it ending up in a grey shop the next day.

Tried both the JC and SD43 on at my AD a month ago, the JC is spectacular but rather large and too big for me. The SD43 however was a perfect fit.

Congratulations OP you have a real beauty in that JC.

I agree. I’m not going to purchase watches that I don’t want just to resell them. Several months ago I turned down a rose gold Daytona on oyster flex. The dial is unreadable on that one so it made no sense to me to buy, but I did consider it. Turned down the new Tudor chrono twice. Thought my husband would want it but he didn’t care for it. Recently I turned down the silver Tudor BB 58. It tarnishes. But during that time I purchased several watches that I like and find much more interesting than Rolex and Tudor.

Sometimes timing doesn’t align with a purchase OP

Enjoy your DBlue and maybe one day the SD43 will resurface.

Great watch. You did what you wanted to do and what is right for you. That is the right choice.
