End of the 'Incoming' threads

Not seeing as many 'incomings' as in years past. Rolex is still making the same number of watches... people must be buying them.... but are not posting.

I can see why:
- Many wait years for their lucky day. When that day comes, is there even any interest?
- Big Spenders can get any watch effortlessly. Stop by to say hi, get offered a Hot model without even asking for it. Some people get upset instead of giving a high-five.
- Browsing is no longer the way to buy. Little chance to try on many of these models, they're just in an online catalog.
- Impossible to plan around a big milestone (Birthday, Anniversary, new job etc.)
- Going on vacation hoping to pick up a watch is not only unlikely, it's discouraged by the ADs. "Go back to your country."

Seems like the hype has died down after all the speculators are leaving the Rolex hobby. Might be a bit more quiet for longer if i had to guess

Forgot one more reason: Buying Grey. This tends to be frowned upon even if someone just want to scratch the itch and get on with their life.

The pool of buyers has dried up. Flippers are off selling sneakers, end users have lost interest in Rolex, and others are sweating while their watches sit on consignment. So all those new Rolexes are filling the ADs safes. Soon those watches will in the cases. At that point some will sell, but with the economy being what it is, even pre covid demand won’t be there.

LOL. Wishful thinking much? I feel like you are right, but I think you're talking about... Zenith or Omega.

Pool of buyers has definitely not dried up. Maybe you mean pool of buyers waiting to buy hot pieces at the crazy high Rolex prices from March/April.

AD safes are as empty as they want it to be.

Define "soon". Demand is still way higher than pre-covid. Likely to be like this for a couple more years. ADs still have years of orders out there from pre-covid that are unfilled. And Rolex is reducing licensed dealers.

99%+ of Rolex buyers have no interest in posting on TRF.

Another possibility. Many don't post their new watch purchases.

Since I only know a handful of Rolex owners, I cannot make such a definitive statement about the 99%...However, I view TRF as a hobby as much as collecting watches.

I think all the incomings are in the "New Arrivals" section of the gray dealers websites.

Like myself, im going to watch and see what the market will do. Im not going to buy now when I could possibly end up getting it at MSRP if the prices keep dropping like they have been over the last couple months.

There have been a lot of "it must be getting easier due to the increased number of incomings" over the past month. How did TRF go from that to this no incomings thread in such a short time? It's kind of like how all of the "buy now, go grey, you only live once" type posts have all been replaced with "I would wait."

You think you can correlate what Rolex is doing with activity on these forums? You must not understand how many people who buy rolexes are in these forums.

Yep. I didn't post an incoming for some hard to get pieces... meteorite Daytona or blue dial overseas. Thought to myself who really gives a f*ck, anyway.

When the market corrects, it takes some time to see the effects at ADs as they have too much vested interest in secondary watch prices. When flippers no longer sees attractive profits we will be quite surprised by the number of watches that are actually available. I believe and am happy that many watch lovers will still pounce at any opportunity to buy watches from ADs. But let’s be realistic, how many people can afford to keep buying every other month. After some revenge spending is over, I hope the watch market will return to before all these hype craze happened. Until then, we will see incomings for milestones/anniversaries/special occasions. Such incomings are much more meaningful than those that marks the chance to purchase from an AD

I also do not do incoming posts. I, personally, don't see the point when we all have seen the same watches over and over again.

Not saying there is anything wrong with these types of posts.

Practically no one who buys a new Rolex from an AD posts an incoming thread in here. The forum is not representative.

I've seen a steady flow of AD acquired TT CHNRs, SS Sly Dwellers, SS BLROs, 126610LVs and various DJs. I'm not counting or comparing but we don't seem particularly short of them. I've also seen hot models sold by ADs after shorter waiting times. But again, it's worth noting this forum is not representative of what is happening to the overwhelming majority of Rolex buyers.

Correct. I dont think I've posted a single incoming here and only shared a story here and there.

Not sure what the AD rejection is about? I deal with five different ADs and three of those are international. I haven’t had an issue with them telling me to return to my home town or country.

I’ve heard about it through the grapevine, but it seems to boil down mostly to how one presents themselves.

OP. It's summer. Perhaps members are spending their time doing things in real life instead of posting incoming threads. Biking? Hiking. Vacations. Yard-work? Like real stuff?

Or maybe they do not want to make the rest of us feel bad because we are still waiting for the call.

I present just fine. And get along fine with two AD’s. But I am not a spender on jewelry. Not getting any callbacks. What does your grapevine say about that? Because at the end of the day, that is rejection to me.

End of the 'Incoming' threads

We just got this. New watch for my wife. Anniversary present. Ordered it in January. We picked it up about 2 weeks ago. I never started a thread about it.
