Sportech strap
I bought a new oem Sportech for my 233
https://www.panerai.com/be/en/access.../mxe0btmr.html Anyone use one long term? Is it truly waterproof as the inside lining seems to be leather? Little enough info on the website. |

Answering my own question if anyone interested in the Sportech?
It's definitely water resistant but stays damp after wetting and has frayed a little already at the buckle as the strap stays soft from the absorbed water. A lovely looking strap but not a rubber replacement ![]() |

Thanks for the update, as am curious and waiting for the PAM1118 with the same band, yet with green luminescience stitching.

After a few days use it already has wear marks? That's very disappointing

I would imagine if you never got it wet it wouldn't show wear for a long time.
The fact that I wear my watches in the shower, swimming etc and change watches all the time means that the damp and softened strap showed wear very soon. |

Great looking strap. I only use NATO’s or rubber for wet use.

Thanks for keeping us updated. I wear mine 24/7 from waking up, and then to the office... to the ocean... to sleep. I know straps are usually not a warranty thing.... yet.... Please keep us updated over the next month or three as to real-world use and wear.

Did not know the back is leather. Ahhh, very good point! So yeah, probably best to not treat it like a rubber / plastic strap.

So fair to say that this is a fashion strap for use on land rather than in water, shame as it looks as though it is Nylon and good for a dip in water.

So, Sportech is for those who prefer the feel of leather on the skin but want the look of rubber/sport without actually being able to regularly use/abuse it? Interesting concept.....

^^^^ agreed. Yet heck, I'll do a durability test with the 1118 as the band is a part of the overall visual theme. Many thanks for posting pic.

I took mine off and it's back on the rubber b for now.
Its definitely water resistant as the sides are sealed and it can take water without the staining you would see in leather. It's not waterproof though and stays wet for a while each time and is soft enough for the buckle to fray the material. |

Ditto can’t find this one anywhere. I have a 616 and want that strap badly.

Here’s what the standard Sportech looks like on my PAM, just got the strap today from Panerai in NYC. It’s a very comfortable strap and I’m very happy with it. Blue stitching is great. Leather on the inside, obviously not ocean proof, but who cares.

It looks nice, but for a textured/lined strap I prefer the 'sailcloth' strap that Blancpain have used on their divers for many years. Not to say that Panerai don't offer several other great strap options as well.

The sailcloth is beautiful and I’m sure Panerai could lean into a strap like that especially for the Submersible.

This strap also works very well for the 47mm Submersible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Exactly my point - I can't swap straps between the two (hence "Shame that it's 23mm at the lugs", meaning the Blancpain).

This came with my 1616, by far my favourite in summer for water
