Interview with Angelo Bonati

I scanned this from a watch supplement to a financial journal - hope you find it interesting...

(if it's hard to read, try saving to your computer and zooming in)

Cheers

Thanks for the article.

Back in the late 90s Mr Johann Rupert bought the brand for a rumoured amount of GBP 1 million(Some say GBP 2 million). From informed sources he takes great pride in the brand as being part of the Richemont/Vendome stable.

Now going way back in time, the whole empire started with a drycleaning business in Gezina,Pretoria.Anton Rupert started this as a student ..... and from there everything evolved. This was a special man and his biography "One Life" is an inspiring read.

So there you have it,the connection between dirty clothes and Panerai !!

That's interesting Chris, thanks. I know that Rupert bought the company in '97, but not much about his or Richemont/Vendome's background. Nice to have a South African connection (Stellenbosch?)

I'm sure you all know that Panerai itself was founded by Giovanni in Florence in 1860...

The original page was an odd size, difficult to scan, so I might try again to get a clearer copy. If you save it as a .jpg you should be able to zoom in a little.

Cheers
