Fragrance - For Her

This forum turned me on to Creed Aventus. And for myself, I love it.

My wife has never worn an expensive perfume. Looking for a fragrance with as sterling a reputation for the ladies as Aventus has for the men.

Suggestions for a nice Xmas present? Price not important.

Anais Anais Cacharel or YSL Paris.

Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry? My wife wears TF’s Black Orchid which smells amazing. Both are popular. I wouldn’t call anything within fragrance a blind-buy guarantee, although if you can sample some Tom Fords yourself, you might purchase with confidence.

I agree, Aventus is awesome. I’m a Creed fan in general.

What type of scents does she normally wear? More floral, sweet or?

Killian Love Don't Be Shy is without question my favorite on a woman. Can never go wrong with baccarat rouge 540 extrait or Le Labo Another 13 as well.

Scents are a very personal thing, IMO, you are much better off making a day of it with her together opposed to surprising her with something she may not enjoy.

Perfume and scents in general are deeply personal, so my suggestion is to find a brand, or better yet a good ‘nose’ to follow, and then get a sampler set for her. Some fun, high end indie brands: Amouage, Fragrance Du Bois, Kerosene, Room 1015. In terms of bigger brands: Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, Byredo, Diptyque, Maison Francis Kurkdjian.

+1 to this idea. OP’s profile says he’s in Austin which isn’t a big market though, so closest thing would probably be a visit to The Scent Room in Dallas.

Club de Nuit is very similar to Aventus, costs 90% less and IMO has much better performance

What fragrances does she wear now & what does she like about them?

Yes, but also is a concoction of harsh chemicals in the opening, at least to me. I've found Mont Blanc Explorer to be a very acceptable halfway house. It's a wonderful perfume that is very similar to Aventus, that cost around a quarter and lasts a lot longer.

La Vie Est Belle by Lancôme is a masterpiece. I'm sure she will love it

Chanel Comète is the Women's perfume of the year. It has dethroned Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Parfum.

Glad you like it. I blind bought and it smells like my Grandmothers handbag, when she was alive (god rest her soul)... In all seriousness, this is one I'm sure I'll appreciate in time.

A TF I really like is Noir Extreme, that stuff is divine.

Thanks guys, many great suggestions here. Will bring the sniffer over to Neiman Marcus and see what works for both of us.

Same here with the forum pointing me in the Aventus direction!

My wife likes Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540. It always gets compliments.

In the UK, BR 540 has been done to death, every man, women and their dog has been wearing it.

Not the same perfume that Kenneth is referring to.

I doubt that every man, woman and their dog in the UK could afford the real deal.

Matching the fragrance she will like best is of course personal. My wife loves Jo Malone. It's not overbearing or too "perfumy/alcohol-heavy".
