Icon14 What Makes You Love Panerai

Hi,

Just been thinking how happy I am with the 279 and the entire purchase package

Nice touches for me, apart from the watch:

- the individually completed COSC certificate

- the beautiful box, including tools (others models get 2nd strap, scroll etc..)

Nicely special feeling and quite bespoke, relative to the cost

-The size is just right for my 200mm wrist.
-The model so simple, classy & bold.
-Not a common watch.
-And the straps made me crazy!!!

I've been bitten by the panerai bug over the past couple days. I had the same bug with Rolex about a month ago, where I kind of have a eureka moment and start trying to find every picture, every review, every article I can and read them. I desperately tried to go check one out last weekend, but I went on Sunday and the only AD in the area is closed sundays. O well.

I think what makes it for me is the new classic that the panerai is. Yes Rolex is THE CLASSIC. But it seems fascinating to someone who is obsessed with branding and advertising to find a product like Panerai that is so rich with tradition yet just coming of age in the world of watch collecting. The luminor base is the one I have my eye on, FOR NOW!

The timeless look, The packaging, and that not everyone recognizes it like a Rolex.

I know this is a Rolex forum, but I think they do a 100% better job on the presentation of the piece.
