Pepsi Panic

Well not panic ...

My small town AD who treats me amazingly and to whom I am very loyal to hasn't seen a Pepsi in years. Rumor around this time last year was that it was going to get discontinued, and of course it didn't. Although there hasn't been much chatter here about it, I have no idea if it will get discontinued in a couple of weeks, so I just decided to bite the bullet and cut to to the chase by buying a complete 2024 unworn one grey. Not the way I usually do things but I didn't want to take the chance that they discontinue it and it doubles in price. I normally enjoy and lean in to the process and the wait for the watches I desire most, but I figure life is too short to sweat a Pepsi.

So this is more of a hedge I guess ... if I doesn't get discontinued my AD will eventually get me one and I'll sell this one, and if does get discontinued at least I'll have one at a pre-discontinuation price. It makes sense in my head.

Pepsi Panic

Never a bad day when there is an incoming. Congrats! I will very likely be doing that exact same thing here shortly with a daytona.

Nah, enjoy it! It wouldn’t be weird to buy a gt3 RS outside of a dealer, this is no different IMO.

This. Your purchase was not a panic, it was a conscious decision to obtain a piece you have wanted. If you spent a little more then MSRP so be it. Wear, enjoy and congratulations!

The reasoning makes total sense. Beautiful watch and no need to keep waiting - even if it doesn't get discontinued

Congrats.
I did the same thing years ago with the white dial Daytona.
Waited for a few years on the AD to come through. Then just decided it was time to buy. Paid grey market price for a new one. Loved it. About 6 months later my AD called. Sold the one I bought earlier for a small profit (at the time) and still have the one from my AD. Life is short. Enjoy your Pepsi!

Enjoy! Nice looking Pepsi, and Jubilee is the only way to go on this reference.

Don't sweat the non-AD purchase, even if a reasonable bit above retail. It's clear you wanted this timepiece, and that is what is most important. Wear it and forget about the method of purchase.

You talked yourself into it because you wanted it and you had the means to obtain it, AKA the right reasons. Congratulations. Fantastic watch.

If you wanted that watch, nice move !

My AD has not seen a single one in over 36 months now so these are tough to get. Enjoy it!

I really appreciate the kind words and the support. I feel better about the choice. I know they’re have issues with bezel failures but I truly hope they don’t discontinue this iconic model, it would be a real shame.

Thanks again everyone!
