New to Me: 2008 M-Serial 16570

Greetings Team!

After owning a 114270 for a few months, I decided to trade it for an excellent condition (B&P) Explorer II. As much as I loved the 36mm Explorer, there was something about the GMT Hand, 40MM, neo-vintage look of the 16570.

Does anyone know if a M-Serial has AR coating on the cyclops? It appears mine does not have any AR.

Thanks, and here she is!

Nice find; it's a beauty. I'm fairly certain that the coated date magnifiers weren't introduced until the 6-digit references. You will sometimes see coated cyclops' on 5-digit references that have been serviced by RSC. Enjoy your new watch!

Thanks for the kind words all. It’s a lot different wearing experience compared to my Sub-C, in a good way.

I did see on some sites that Rolex started using AR in 2005. Was that only on certain models? Also, Rick thanks for your input.

The 116619 (smurf sub date in white gold) was released around 2005 and yes it was fitted with ar coated magnifier. As additional 6-digit date models started being released in the years following 2005, (116710, 116610 and others), they were also fitted with the antiglare magnifiers.

I also like the black dial better. Makes for a much more classic look.

Here's a shot next to my Sub.

My wife said they look the same... So, I joked that her and her sister look the same. Did not go over well.

Thanks all.

Last question since I’m new the the Exp 2 world. Should the bezel be more of a matte finish than the rest of the watch? Or should the shine be the same as the bracelet?

Congrats on your 16570! Excellent condition! I am pretty sure a M serial won’t have the AR under the cyclope. For the 16610LN the AR under the cyclope were only on the last serials (I think G serial and random serial).
