Finally have a Royal Oak on the way

Spent probably a month contemplating my first 30k+ watch and ended up with a 116519 meteorite, and while it’s incredible, I really missed having a bracelet and the royal oak has always been on my “must have” list.

I was originally considering selling my Daytona and hunting a 15503BC, but then I figured having two watches feels a lot more fun than 1 haha.

So now a beautiful 2018 15400ST Blue dial that was originally sold in my home town of NY should be on its way to me from France soon, so excited!

The 15503BC is a GRAIL piece for sure that dial is next level, but they have recently gone up again with gold prices flying and them being underpriced for what your getting...

That 15400ST Blue dial will be a perfect substitute for the 15503BC

I agree that 2 watches is better than 1 in this case for sure!

Congrats and you will find the AP riding the wrist way more often than the Daytona

Sooooooo guess who bought a 15400 and then literally while it was in transit his dealer found him a great condition 15503BC

It’ll be cool to see both in person to compare, but for now I’m very very happy with my technically… second AP?

Would post pics but Rolex forums doesn’t wanna let a noob have fun!

That’s an epic piece. The combination of WG and that dial is the perfect combo. Looking forward to seeing the pictures

Impossible to get the perfect pic of this thing, truly, you have to see it in person

I only have one right now and as perfect as it is I obviously can’t help thinking what’s next. The only thing holding me back is a promise made to wifey

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Hear what you say about Vacheron and their Blue dials but, for me, in the flesh they are not as deep in hue when you see them up close and personal.

Here you go side by side no filters

It’s all about the light for sure the APs need to be hit at almost an angle where the Vacheron dead on it better

Thank you

To my eyes (in the flesh and on line) the Vacheron Blue dial has an almost inky flattish blue look to it?

Whereas, and I agree here totally, the tapisserie AP dial catches and refracts more light and richness of colour.

Got to compare to a vacheron overseas blue yesterday, I’ll see if my friend has the pic. I do think in darker rooms the vacheron blue still takes the cake.

But in the sun, I love the variance of shading with every little movement on the AP.
