Pam 372 Sapphire vs plexiglass.
I was able to try them both The only difference that I noticed was the sapphire is heavier.
Im still deciding which one to get. Any opinions from 372 owners here? ![]() Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

For the truly vintage feel, a lightly scuffed plexy is sexy. Up to you, though, if you can handle the scratches.

I'll get the sapphire. The watch sits pretty high and you'll mostly likely going to hit it against something hard some day.

Plexi for sure....it's one of the unique and vintage characteristics that make that watch even more special

Plexi of course. Under certain light conditions you can tell the difference very easily as it emits a warm glow due to a different reflective index.
Aesthetical reasons aside, the plexi 372 is no longer in production so it would be more sought after than the sapphire version going forward. |

I would go sapphire. Yep, sacrilege, I know, but my watches get knocked on things and the scratches would drive me bonkers.
My SS Daytona has to go to RSC for a new bezel because of a scratch so I can speak from experience when I say that I know that there's no way I could live with scratches. If you're not a drama queen like me, then be a purist and go plexi ![]()

I do like plexi, but for a daily/regular wearer I would go sapphire.

Both nice. I'd like a plexi as I don't own a plexiglass!

fullcourt,
What's nicer about 372 plexi? Is it the shape, color, distortion? Easy to see the difference? I just sold a Speedmaster 3570.50 Moonwatch -- hesalite/plexiglass. It was my favorite aspect of the watch -- clear and rounded around the edges with an old school distortion. Very different looking than the sapphire version. But I've never compared the 372 plexi to the sapphire version. John |

I went with 422 not due to crystal but small seconds hand.
I'd go with saphire though |

I've polished out scratches in my 372 plexiglass a couple of times with Polywatch. It erases the scratches and even gives the plexiglass a nice gloss to it after the polish. I've let mine go for a while now though, and enjoying the wabi on the watch. It looks great, and I can always restore the crystal again if I want.

Wait...I do love my Speedy, so I can't be all in on that last comment. I just found my 372 got scratched a lot when I had one.

Plexi all the way...
It looks sexier and scuffs can be polished out easily with normal toothpaste ![]() |

Plexi with occasional polly watch.
I have a true domed sapphire on my Nomos Metro and I really wish it was plexi. It reflects off the top and bottom on the curved part creating "odd" distortion. My Moonwatch never did that. Neither does my vintage Tudor. I love plexi on any non tool watch. |

Interested to hear from those that own plexi watches if they naturally breakdown after a while. e.g. develop a crackle or degrade. I like the plexi, but would try my best to prevent scratches. On the other hand, when I pass it down to my son in 20 - 30 years it would probably be cool to have some history on it.
