Lange 1 Lume

For work reasons, and because I wake up frequently, I wear my watch to bed, and like to occasionally check the time. I've heard pretty dismal reports on legibility of Lange lume. What are folks practical experiences. If you wear it in light during the day, can you see it in very dark conditions at night?
Thanks

Don't know about the Lange Lume, but the right tool for the job is a plastic battery powered alarm clock...no buying history necessary.

Not sure but there are so many other watches that have serious lume and can take more use. I don't think I would wear an ALS to sleep in.

The L1 doesn't have a lot of lumen. Plus you don't buy ALS watches for the lumen anyway, expect of course the actual Lumen models. I occasionally wear my watches to bed. But, if I really want to check the time, I usually just end up checking my phone.

I own a Lange 1 Time Zone with lumed hands and while I still prefer the look , they don’t really do their job at night… barely visible. My Dato in the other hand is great!

You can see your dato in the middle of the night after no charge of the lume for a number of hours?

Wearing gold Lange to bed - impressive

Lume on it - unimpressive

I wear my Dato all day and yes, I can see the time if and when I need to during the night, without conscious charging before bed.

Hi All; picked up a 2005 Lange 1 Luminous. I can read it at night, with no special charge and in late am. Larger hands would certainly be easier. It's dim, but functional. Just a data point to complete the thread!

One point of clarification because I was (am) a lume newbie... I was initially disappointed with the lume of my Czapek Antarctique overnight because it wasn't very bright, but over some use I realize it actually is reasonably visible all night if it's dark out once my eyes have adjusted. If there is ambient light then the lume disappears, but in dark conditions I can definitely read the time. It's not a lume monster, but it's very adequate.

I don't know about Lange lume in particular, but if you were to test it, make sure to test it in the dark and once your eyes have adjusted.

Genuinely curious what work reason would require you to wear your watch to bed and see the lume. I’ve always got my phone right next to my bed and even if I was wearing a watch to bed, it’d be just as quick and much easier to read if I just rolled over and looked at my phone. Do you work a job that requires you to wear a watch and do you have to wake up and go so quickly that you do not have time to put a watch on?

Isn't the Lumen built for this very purpose?

The Luminous has lumed printed Roman Numerals vs applied. Stylistically it creates more contrast and a more sporty vs dressy vibe. I'm not sure that the hands are any different lume than some other Lange 1 models that have lumed hands.

I can’t think of any modern watch I know whose lume would do what you want it to. Modern materials simply aren’t up to it.

My Lange 1’s lume is pretty awful, but not any worse than any other modern watch I own.

Well, they actually do, even the old 2005 Lange 1 I purchased. My Czapek, does, my Blancpan LeMan does, on older IWC does also. If it's dark, they do work. Not bright, but enough to be functionally legible.
As noted above, I obtained a 2005 Lange luminous, and it is quite legible in the dark, without special charge, even 5-6 hours after lights out.
All relative, I suppose.
