Anyone regret the jubilee and later buy the oyster for a DJ41?
Through a trade deal I recently picked up my first DateJust, green dial 126334 from 2023. A local watch guy on a Dallas facebook watch page was looking to trade or sell to get something completely different, ended up being a cash/trade deal for one of my watches.
I have worn it almost everyday since getting it, but I'm not super crazy about the jubilee as I'm more of a shorts/t-shirt guy working from home or traveling and wondering about fitting with the oyster from that model. Is there a noticeable comfort difference between the two, and realistically, is it safe to pick up one second hand on this site for about $1,400 and installing myself? Any change to the weight or balance of the watch expected? |

Mixing and matching is part of the enthusiast ethos.
I wear a lot of watches and don't really notice a difference between bracelet comfort. What I do notice is the various clasp arrangements, but Rolex is pretty much the same. I wouldn't need to make an excuse to get another bracelet.

Give it time. I think you will grow to absolutely love the jubilee. It looks amazing on the Datejust. You may just not used to the look yet and find it flashy, but I really believe over time your opinion will change.
As for comfort I think the jubilee wears a little more comfortably on the wrist and makes the watch feel lighter. But nothing wrong with the oyster either. I'd give it a month or two. If you still feel that way, pick up an oyster bracelet for it. |

I do swap bracelets on my Professional Rolex (mostly GMT), but have not considered swapping on my Datejust. The DJ and Jubilee are perfect together!

I find the fluted bezel dresses the DJ up beyond my liking. I love the classic look but it makes it too formal/stiff/old for my daily attire. I don’t find the fluted pairs well with oyster (personal preference) so I opted for smooth on jubilee. Perfect for dressing up shirt and jeans a touch but without looking out of place.
If purely an aesthetic mismatch I suggest considering if it is the jubilee bracelet or the bezel that is actually causing concern. As for comfort, I have both bracelet types and they are equally comfortable to me. |

I have both but note that the Oyster bracelet scratches easily, especially on the polished center links (PCLs).

I think both bracelets are fantastic and equally comfortable once sized correctly. Personally, I like the fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet on Datejusts because those features are design cues of the model. The Datejust looks good any way you order it, but if I can only have one Datejust, it would be on a Jubilee bracelet.

they are equally comfortable and you should barely notice the difference.
it's nice to have both and switch around. technically you have two different watches now. |

Regret, no - but I do plan on purchasing the oyster bracelet for my DJ 36 at somepoint. Makes it less flashy and thus, less likely to attract unwanted attention.

TBH, I'd never. I think the DJ & the jubilee are a match made in heaven. I think the oyster bracelet is better suited for the sportier side of the line-up.

I’ve given this some thought when wearing both:
The Jubilee definitely drapes more and is more chain like over the wrist than the oyster. Sometimes the jubilee can feel like the head of the watches is moving more because of the pliable feel and the sides of the links have a sharp square feel against the skin in certain temps. The oyster has more body or substance and less of a “fussy/busy” look for lack of a better word compared to the more jewelry like Jubilee. The oyster is more sporty and simple/clean looking and the Jubilee is more jewelry/busy looking. Both are great looks it just depends on what you’re after and comfort is all about sizing and what feel you like around the wrist.

The Jubilee LOOKS fantastic! I lost a fair amount of money switching back and forth Oyster & Jubilee (I did it by trading it a number of times) - As much as I tried to go Jubilee I ended going back to Oyster every time.

Anyone regret the jubilee and later buy the oyster for a DJ41?
I have the opposite problem. I bought my Wimbledon 36 on the Oyster, with fluted bezel, and sometimes wish I could switch to Jubilee. However, I discovered the cost of a TT jubilee is prohibitively expensive. I have decided to leave it as is, and it is a nice sporty example of the iconic Datejust, especially given the dial choice:

I love jubilee on my arm better, but I love the look of the PCL on someone else’s arm. Always gets my attention.

No.
I basically did the opposite though. Sold my DJ 41 on oyster and eventually bought a DJ on jubilee. And also switched to a 36 too. Zero regrets, not even for a second. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It’s one of the big reasons I want the Daytona. Pure class.

I like the look of a jubilee much more but like the way the oyster wears much more. I have a 7.75” wrist

That’s exactly what I did. Came out the gate with jubilee / fluted bezel then after I got a couple other Rolexes under my belt, I switched to oyster bracelet / fluted bezel. I really like the sporty look and I love the center polished link and the fluted bezel just makes it more versatile to me. When I had jubilee/fluted bezel felt it was too dressy but now I feel I can wear my newer model for more occasions.

I prefer Oyster. It’s is more versatile, looks good with both a suit and tie, or jeans and a t-shirt.

OP-welcome. Some love the jubilee, some love the oyster. The presidential and land dweller bands are nice too.

As mentioned above, give it a little time. Personally, I think both are great and go with just about anything, dress down, dress up, either with both. I also like the idea of just having the option to mix the look up. For me the jubilee is a touch more comfortable, but that in no way means the oyster version is uncomfortable at all. With a proper tool you can do the swap yourself in single digit minutes (with a little practice).

I’m mostly a t-shirt / shorts guy since retiring, too. I’d never want to replace the jubilee with an oyster. Not in a million years…
I have two watches on the jubilee. A DJ41 and a GMT. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I definitely prefer the 36 case size. The bands and bezels do not matter as long as it’s a 36…
