Looking into adding a Panerai to the collection. Wanted some feed back from everyone on what they would recommend. I like white dials, so that narrows it down. Not sure whether to go with a manual wind or pony up and get an automatic. I appreciate any insight from you all on TRF.

Easy...get a 113.
Fantastic watch. Gets no love but should. Skip the automatics...boring, yawn.... ;-)

do you *need* a date? i mean the date window ... LOL
somebody can't live without the date window. if missing the date window will bug you, auto is the way to go. and btw, if you can live without the small (continue running) second hand (and the date window), then you can consider 114 as well. |

Try a few on. The black dials stay a bit more true to the heritage, but buy what you like!

I'm not trying to interfere with the OP's question but hoping this may help as i am curious also...is the manual wind preferred over the automatic? It seems that is the case in most results...and if so why? I want to add a Panerai also but have wondered this,as I would have thought the automatic more desirable(but i have nothing to base this on as my knowledge about these watches is close to none, but im learning)

Every watch I own has a date, which is why I like the idea of a casual watch without the date. Manual wind seems to be the way to go from what I'm hearing and reading about Panerai. Any wrist shot pics and further insight is greatly appreciated.

I love to Wind my PAM. and I didn't need a date on a casual weekend watch. Buy what you like not what others tell you to like. If you want a white dial get it.

My only Panerai is the 000. Plain dial with logo, no date, manual wind. It is my first and only manual wind watch. I wasn't sure if I would like the manual winding aspect, but now that I've had it for a couple of months, I must say that it is one of my favorite things about the watch. I even look forward to winding it if you can believe that.

Definitely try a few on before hand. I think the 113 looks bad ass with an ammo strap!

Great wrist shot of the PAM-251! I hear many people talking about different bands. Is it easy to change the bands out What is an ammo strap?

Depending on what series you get, in terms of easy to change. J-series and newer have the quick band change system. This is comprised of a botton on the back of the lugs that is depressed to release the strap pin, quite slick! The I-series and older, you have to unscrew thus scratching can occur! As far as ammo straps there are various vendors that use vintage ammo pouchs and such to create very unique looking straps that suit the PAM's very nicely. Just do a search or go to paneristi.com and you will get the idea!! Good luck!! Thx for the props on the wrist shot;-)

Thanks for the insight everyone. I'm leaning towards PAM-113. Simple and versatile.
